It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved member of the Titans Cricket family, Hendrick Louis Erasmus, fondly known as “Oom Hennie.” who passed away on 14 February 2024, at the age of 71.
Oom Hennie’s journey into the world of cricket scoring began 31 years ago, ignited by a father’s devotion at his son, Andre’s cricket match. Since that day, Oom Hennie’s commitment to cricket scoring remained steadfast, serving as a testament to his enduring love for the sport.
Adele, Oom Hennie’s daughter, fondly recalls her father’s unwavering dedication to scoring, not only for the Titans but also for international fixtures. She remarked, “My father loved every moment of scoring for the Titans and watching them play. It was his passion.”
Not only was Oom Hennie a loyal Titans supporter, but he also left a lasting mark on Irene Villagers Cricket Club, where he served as the former 1st team scorer. His presence at the club was tantamount with warmth and camaraderie, enriching the cricketing community with his unwavering spirit.
Charlotte Serwadi, Titans Cricket Service Manager, expressed her condolences, stating, “Oom Hennie was an integral part of our scorer’s family. His dedication and hard work will be deeply missed. He was a true asset to our team.”
Oom Hennie will be remembered for his welcoming aura, his calming presence, and his tireless work ethic. His legacy serves as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
