Titans Cricket is proud to congratulate five of its own on their selection to represent South Africa on the international veterans stage this October, with the Proteas Veterans teams for the IMC Over-40s World Cup and the Over-50s Africa Cup announced by the Veterans Cricket Association of South Africa (VCASA).
The Titans representation spans both age-group tournaments, reflecting the depth of cricketing talent that continues to emerge from the union. Alwyn Vorster and Piet Botha have both been named in the Proteas Veterans Over-40s squad that will travel to Georgetown, Guyana, for the IMC Over-40s World Cup, running from 17 to 31 October 2026.
South Africa head into the tournament as defending champions, having lifted the inaugural trophy, and will be aiming to improve on their third-place finish at the T20 World Cup in Karachi last year. Vorster and Botha will be central to that push as the Proteas look to defend their crown on the biggest stage in veterans cricket.
Titans Cricket also celebrates strong representation in the Over-50s ranks, with the Africa Cup set to take place in Harare, Zimbabwe, from 25 to 30 October 2026. The tournament will feature England, Wales, Namibia and Zimbabwe alongside two South African sides, underlining the strength and depth of master’s cricket in the country.
Martin Bakker and Con Purchase have been named in the Proteas Veterans Over-50s squad, while Jaco de Swardt has earned his place in the South Africa “A” Over-50s playing squad. Travis Paul will serve as Manager of the South Africa “A” side.
From Centurion to Guyana and Harare, these five representatives carry the Titans name onto the international stage, a testament to the enduring passion for the game within the union’s playing community.
Titans Cricket wishes Alwyn Vorster, Piet Botha, Martin Bakker, Con Purchase and Jaco de Swardt every success as they prepare to represent South Africa. The union will be following their campaigns closely as they take on the world in October.
