Titans Cricket is deeply saddened by the passing of Jonas ‘Jaymash’ Mashishi, who passed away on 26 March 2026 at the age of 35.

Born on 15 November 1990, Jaymash’s love for cricket began at a very young age. He first made his mark as a player before transitioning into umpiring, where he continued to serve the game with passion and dedication. In 2018, he began his umpiring career and went on to achieve his Level 2 Umpire qualification, demonstrating his commitment to developing within the sport.

One of the proudest moments of Jaymash’s umpiring career came when he officiated the Titans Academy match against Zimbabwe U19 in Mamelodi, a fixture he often regarded as his biggest game. His favourite ground to officiate at was the Boys High Main Field, Will Hofmeyr Oval.

At the time of his passing, Jaymash was actively serving as a Titans Cricket Union Umpire and remained deeply involved in cricket development within his community.

Jaymash will be remembered not only for his contribution to cricket, but also for his vibrant personality. He was known as a vocal, energetic individual who brought laughter into every space he entered. With a big heart, warm smile, and infectious laughter, Jaymash had a unique ability to uplift those around him and create a positive environment both on and off the field.

Titans Cricket extends its heartfelt condolences to the Mashishi family, friends, colleagues, and the broader cricket community during this difficult time. His passion for cricket and his joyful spirit will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
