TITANS ADD TO LEGACY WITH SHARED 2024/2025 4-DAY TITLE AT THE WANDERERS

April 14, 2025

The Momentum Multiply Titans have added yet another piece of silverware to their illustrious cabinet, sharing the 4-Day Series Final trophy with the DP World Lions at the iconic Wanderers Stadium. This hard-fought result brings the Titans’ tally to 23 trophies in the last 20 years, a testament to the franchise’s enduring excellence in South African cricket.

Despite a delayed start due to a wet outfield that wiped out play on Day 1 and restricted action on Day 2, the final delivered high drama and moments of individual brilliance.

The Lions, having won the toss and chosen to bat first, posted 413/7 in their first innings. Titans bowlers Janco Smith (3/84) and Junior Dala (2/81) were the pick of the attack, chipping away at the hosts’ top and middle order.
The Titans took the bat on Day 3 but struggled to gain momentum, eventually being bowled out for just 123 runs.

Keegan Petersen stood tall with a resilient half-century, while Lhuan-dre Pretorius showed intent with a 30-run knock off 53 balls.

Forced to follow on, the Titans were up against it, but what followed was a show of character, resilience, and team spirit.

Lhuan-dre Pretorius led the charge in the second innings with a brilliant 114-run knock, showing both grit and flair under pressure. Keegan Petersen (75) continued his good form, and Rivaldo Moonsamy’s composed 79 ensured the Titans weathered the Lions’ bowling attack during a tense final session. Contributions from Joshua van Heerden (24) and Junior Dala (20) added crucial support as the Titans batted their way to a match-saving draw.

Reflecting on the match, Titans captain Neil Brand said:
“It was a really tough one – the conditions, the pressure, the quality of the opposition. But I’m proud of the fight the team showed. We didn’t give up and showed the kind of resilience that defines Titans Cricket. A huge thank you to the entire squad, and credit to the Lions for a competitive and hard-fought final.”

Titans Head Coach Richard das Neves echoed the captain’s sentiments:
“The way the guys stood up in the second innings speaks volumes about the character in this team. It wasn’t the easiest build-up with the conditions, but the belief in the changeroom never wavered. I’m incredibly proud of this group – this shared trophy feels like a win for everything we’ve worked toward this season.”

The Momentum Multiply Titans now close their 2024/25 season with immense pride, adding a shared 4-Day Series title to their incredible record of 23 trophies in 20 years. As always, the Sky Blues remain a team where legends rise – and resilience thrives.
