The Momentum Multiply Titans restart the 4 Day Domestic Series against the GBets Rocks at the Tuks Oval from Sunday, 19 February.
The Sky Blues were delighted to get back together for the red ball competition following the extended time apart due to the recently concluded SA20.
“It’s nice to have everyone back; to have a full house, full changeroom, full nets. The biggest key is to get everyone back together, we’ve been separated for over a month but it’s good to be back together and we keen and ready to go into red ball cricket.” Titans captain Sibonelo Makhanya.
Sitting in third position on the 4 Day Series table the Titans will want to start strong in the resumption of the competition to give themselves a good chance at the business end.
Head coach, Mandla Mashimbyi will be pleased that he’s had his full group of players at training as well as those with national contracts.
“We had a big group today and I think it was good, I loved the energy and enjoyed the guys investing in one another. I think what’s important for us now is to make sure that we go back to our 4 Day processes.” Mashimbyi explained.
The Titans will be boosted by the form of Heinrich Klaasen, Simon Harmer and Aiden Markram who have all earned a call up to the Proteas Test side set to host the West Indies.
There will also be energy within the group ahead the Rocks clash from the young players that were working with assistant coach Geoffrey Toyana during the month of January.
Moving from the shortest format of the game to 4 day cricket, the Sky Blues focus will be to stick to the basics, back their skills and remain disciplined throughout the 4 days.
“Like Mandla always stresses, the best thing to do is to simplify it. You have to fall back in love with the basics of the game, as a bowler that means hitting one area for long periods of time and as batsman being happy to leave and defend balls.” Said Makhanya.
The match between the Titans and Rocks will get underway from 10:00 on Sunday, 19 February at the Tuks Oval.
