The start of the CSA 4 Day Series presents a new opportunity for the Momentum Multiply Titans to pursue another trophy.
The Titans begin their 2023/2024 4 Day Series campaign against the GBets Rocks at Boland Park on Saturday, 4 November.
In the 2022/2023 season, the Titans missed out on 4 Day Series glory by half a point and the Sky Blues will be keen to go 1 better this season.
“A lot of guys are still hurting from how things ended last season, but we keen to rectify that this year.” Said Titans captain Neil Brand.
A strong start in the 4 Day competition is a priority for the Titans who seek to be in a favourable position come the end of the year.
“The main objective for me is to get everyone to be the best version of themselves and if we can get that right we’ll be in contention come the end of the season.”
It will be important for the Sky Blues to not look too far ahead and focus on each game as it comes, starting with the Rocks in Paarl and then the Dolphins at SuperSport Park.
While 4 Day matches in the recent past at Boland Park have gone the way of the Titans they are well aware that it is a tough place to get a result.
“We’re aware of the signings they’ve made in the winter to bolster their attack and their batting but we will show up with a good fight and hopefully get a good result in Paarl.” Explained Brand.
The Sky Blues had an undesired end to their CSA 1 Day Cup campaign finishing in fifth place on the log. The 4 Day Series is a chance to turn a new page and put energy into a new competition.
“We don’t pride ourselves on finishing fifth on the log, we know we better than that as a team. We’ve had a lot of hard and honest conversations over the last two weeks and the group is keen to fix the errors from the 1 Day Cup.” Commented the skipper on the run in the 1 Day Cup.
Unfortunately, Matthew Boast is injured so Merrick Brett has been called up in his place. Schalk Engelbrecht, the off spinner from TUKS has been training with the squad and there’s excitement to see him in action, Sam Ruwisi has also been brought in to strengthen the bowling.
