Titans Cricket was saddened to hear news this week of the passing of former Northerns player Kevin Verdoorn.
The 67 year-old represented Northerns between 1972 and 1989 as a top order batter, playing in 83 first-class matches. He had a highest score of 97, and his occasional medium pace garnered 15 wickets for the province, with a best of four for 43.
Verdoorn followed in the footsteps of his father, Forsyth Keith Verdoorn, who had played for the province in the 50s. Verdoorn also played in the Pretoria club cricket circuit, represented PHSOB and CBCOB and received a call up to the national team.
“Our condolences go out to the family during this time. Titans Cricket’s thoughts are with the Verdoorn family, and we would like to salute Kevin for his contribution to the game,” Titans Cricket CEO Dr Jacques Faul said.
A competitive player in his days Verdoorn will be remembered for Northern Transvaal stalwart.
May he rest in peace.
