The Fidelity Titans head into the third fixture of the Hollywoodbets Proseries with a perfect record, having won every match so far without a single defeat. The Sky Blues now travel to St Albans to take on the Yesplay Cobras over a two-day weekend, with the Pro50 clash on Saturday, 24 October and the Pro20 contest on Sunday, 25 October. Both matches start at 10:00.
Momentum is firmly with the Sky Blues after a commanding display at their home ground, SuperSport Park, last week. Batting first against the DP World Lions in the Pro50, the Titans posted a formidable 330 for 3, and it was Sune Luus who led the way, breaking yet another record at her home ground with an unbeaten 167 off 131 balls. She found excellent support from Luyanda Nzuza, who made 59 off 87 balls, and Laura Wolvaardt, who contributed with 57 off 58. With that total on the board, the bowlers did the rest. Caitlin Wyngaard was the standout with a five-wicket haul, which made it far easier for the Titans to restrict the Lions as they went on to win by 211 runs.
The squad for this weekend sees a few changes. Laura Wolvaardt will not be available for the encounter, and Miane Smit comes into the side in her place. Wicketkeeper-batter Simone Lourens joins the group and will take the gloves, while Anneke Bosch will captain the Sky Blues for the weekend. Head coach Geoffrey Toyana believes the group has the depth to handle the changes.
“We are pleased with how the season has started, and what stands out for me is the individual success of the ladies. Sune’s innings last week was special, Luyanda and Caitlin delivered when it mattered, and everyone who has taken the field has contributed. Going up against the Cobras, we want each player to back her own game and carry that confidence to St Albans. They will be eager to test us, so we will stay disciplined, enjoy it and keep doing the basics well.”
The Titans will be eager to extend their winning run and stay at the top of the log, and the Sky Blues faithful are encouraged to get behind the team as they chase two more victories this weekend.
The Fidelity Titans squad to face the Yesplay Cobras: Miane Smit, Luyanda Nzuza, Sune Luus, Caitlin Wyngaard, Anneke Bosch, Masabata Klaas, Eliz-Mari Marx, Simone Lourens, Julia Hoal, Angel Mgwenya and Paulinah Mashishi.
