The Fidelity Titans have once again stamped their authority on the Global Cricket Tournament (GCT), lifting the trophy for the second time after a triumphant campaign at the 2026 edition of the tournament, held from 16 – 18 January 2026. This latest success comes as a proud reminder of the team’s dominance, having also claimed the title during the inaugural year of the Global Cricket Tournament.
The Sky Blues got their campaign off to a strong start against the DP World Lions. Batting first, the Titans produced a composed performance with valuable contributions across the top order. Tebogo Macheke anchored the innings with a well-played 39 off 35 balls, while Essex star Sophia Smale impressed with a fluent 46 off 47 deliveries. Tiani van den Heuvel added momentum with a quickfire 30 off 24 balls. With the ball, Christelle van der Schyff delivered a standout performance, claiming three wickets for just 18 runs to restrict the Lions and set the tone for the tournament.
Day two saw the Titans in action once again, including a dominant display against Eastern Storm on Saturday. The Fidelity Titans secured a convincing 56-run victory, led by captain Robyn Searle, who top-scored with a confident 45 off 38 balls. Sophia Smale continued to underline her importance to the side, contributing consistently with both bat and ball throughout the tournament.
The team’s all-round performances and depth proved decisive over the three days, culminating in yet another Global Cricket Tournament title and reinforcing the Fidelity Titans’ reputation as one of the premier women’s sides in the competition.
Head Coach Lerato Malesa praised the squad for their efforts and highlighted the significance of the victory as the team builds towards the next challenge, “I am extremely proud of the girls and the way they performed throughout the tournament. Winning the Global Cricket Tournament again is a testament to the hard work they have put in, and this is excellent preparation as we head into the Hollywoodbets Pro Series next month.”
