Mr. Schalk Van Der Merwe is an attorney, notary and conveyancer with a special interest in Property Law and Mediation. He obtained his BProc degree through the University of Pretoria in 1978, and qualified himself further with a Master’s (LLM) in Tax Law in 2001 at the same institution. He holds a diploma in Advanced Corporate Law from the University of South Africa and was admitted as an attorney in January 1979.

He was accredited as a Civil and Commercial Mediator by Conflict Dynamics (African Centre for Dispute Resolution) in February 2019, having practiced as an attorney for over 40 years.

Van Der Merwe believes that a consultative approach to solving disputes is much more desirable than an adversarial approach and is adept in resolutions in Sectional Titles and Homeowners’ Associations, Estate Agency and Commission disputes, Contractual disputes and the unbundling of companies and Joint Ventures.
