TITANS READY TO GO AGAIN

The Momentum Multiply Titans are excited at the immediate chance to hunt for another trophy this season, as the 50-over competition takes priority for the final leg of the season.

Fresh from securing the four-day title in some style, the Sky Blues meet the Paarl Rocks on Friday, in a game with added motivation.

It was the Paarl Rocks who denied the Titans the T20 trophy in Gqeberha recently, snuffing out any chance of a treble triumph.

“We know that if we play to our best, we can win anywhere, coach Mandla Mashimbyi said of the change in format.

“What is important is for us to stay humble, and to not get emotional about what happened in PE (the T20 final). We just need to do what we need to on the day.”

The Titans are crammed with quality, with several Proteas back from the recent New Zealand tour, joining some stalwarts who have been pivotal in the past few weeks.

The change in format also sees a change in leader, with Neil Brand handing the reins to Sibonelo Makhanya.

“It’s been really special to lead this group, and hopefully I can do it again for some time in the future,” Brand said of his stint as red-ball leader.

Makhanya will be ably supported by returning Test captain Dean Elgar, as well as Titans T20 skipper Theunis de Buryn, to name just two of the experienced members of a potent squad.

“We have set new goals for ourselves, and now we need to go out and try and win this competition, Brand challenged.

“We want to win every trophy that we can, and we know that we have got the squad to do it.”
