Frustrated by the abandoned contest against the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, the Multiply Titans are determined to keep their foot on the accelerator when they visit the VKB Knights on Sunday, in the CSA T20 Challenge.
The Sky Blues are currently enjoying a strong finish to the 2018/19 season, and would love to add the T20 crown to the Momentum One-day Cup they sealed recently.
“If we can add the T20 trophy to the Momentum Cup, then it has been a good season,” opined top-order batsman Theunis de Bruyn.
The lanky Proteas star has been one of the key figures in a Titans side that has scored heavily since the turn of the year, but he reserved special praise for another on the roster.
“It’s great to have Henry (Davids) back in the mix for us. He is a bit of an oldie, but he is still very much a goldie,” De Bruyn quipped!
Davids missed over a month of the campaign due to illness, but he is back with a vengeance.
The veteran opener was a key figure in the Titans recent victory over the Cobras, his 57 off 39 balls helping to seal a bonus point.
“There is a lot of depth with our squad, and with the T20 games coming in thick and fast, we are really enjoying our cricket again,” De Bruyn added.
The Titans shook off some cabin fever by training on Saturday afternoon, before visiting a place De Bruyn knows well.
He played and captained the Knights, but he maintains that the trip on Sunday is all business.
“We respect every team, of course. But we are just focussing on what we can do as a Titans team, and trying to finish off a busy season in the best possible way,” De Bruyn concluded.
