TITANS AIMING FOR MORE OF THE SAME ON THE ROAD

The Momentum Multiply Titans have been eyeing their visit to the Knights eagerly, given their strong start to the new year. The Sky Blues visit Mangaung in the latest round of the CSA 4-Day Domestic Series, and they are full of confidence.

An eight-wicket triumph in Potchefstroom over North-West Dragons saw them make the perfect start to the second half of the season.

“It was nice to start 2022 with a win” seamer Ayabulela Gqamane reflected.

“The most important thing is to not look too far ahead, and just take it game by game, day by day,” he said of the mentality currently in the Titans dressing-room.

A fine century by Heinrich Klaasen, as well as seven wickets in the match for the evergreen Simon Harmer were the cornerstone of the win in Potch.

Grant Mokoena added an undefeated half-century in the fourth innings, to seal a memorable road-trip for Mandla Mashimbyi’s charges.

“My main focus is to improve my skills and lead with the bat. I want to bat for long periods, to help the team. The team results are the most important thing,” Mokoena explained ahead of the visit to the Knights.

The Titans currently sit in third place on the First Division standings, behind the Lions and the Warriors. Another strong showing on the road will maintain the pressure on the top two.

“We just want to be even more consistent around all aspects and hopefully contribute to the team winning,” Mokoena said of each player’s responsibility.
