Titans Cricket is saddened by the passing of honourary life member and sport administrator Mac van Vuuren.
Van Vuuren dedicated a considerable part of his life to cricket and served as vice president of Northern Transvaal Cricket Union for 17 years.
He also served as a selector for Northerns Transvaal Rugby while benefitting club structures in both rugby and cricket.
In 2000 van Vuuren was awarded the Christie Vlok Award for his contribution to cricket in the Province, and in 2014 saw him receiving an NCU Honourary Member Award.
Former board president and current member of the Northerns Cricket Union board, John Wright described van Vuuren as, “a true champion, a larger than life character, who touched so many in his lifetime.”
“Oom Mac humble to the core and had a lifetime of invaluable sporting experiences and stories.”
Van Vuuren lived a full and fruitful life passing at the age of 87. He was laid to rest on Friday, 13 October in Pretoria.
Our thoughts are with the van Vuuren family and friends and we wish them comfort.
