The 2017/18 Newcomer of the Year for the Titans is the ideal back-up for when the likes of Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar are on duty with the Proteas, bringing maturity and a solid technique to the top-order. Agathangelou, who turns 30 on November 16, is a Rustenburg product who played for the SA Schools XI in 2008 and the experience gained from the different places his cricketing journey has taken him – playing for the Highveld Lions as a teenager, he has also had stints in the English county game with Lancashire and Leicestershire – is clearly evident in his game.
‘Aggers’ averaged 31.55 in the five four-day games he played last season, but he averaged a superb 62.67, scoring two centuries, for Northerns in the CSA Three-Day Provincial Cup.
