LHUAN-DRE PRETORIUS AND SUNE LUUS SHINE BRIGHT AT THE TITANS ANNUAL AWARDS 2025

April 17. 2025

The Titans Annual Awards 2025 was a night of celebration, honouring the players who showcased skill, character, and spirit throughout the season. Held under the inspiring theme Global Titans, the event reflected the spirit of a team that continues to grow its legacy both on and off the field.

At the heart of the celebrations were Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Sune Luus, who both walked away with the Player of the Year awards following an outstanding season. For Lhuan-dre, the 2024/25 campaign was nothing short of a breakout year. On his red-ball debut, he scored a brilliant 120 off 184 balls, immediately stamping his authority on the format. He went on to score three centuries in the 4-Day competition, proving that his bat speaks volumes across formats. Lhuan-dre claimed four awards on the evening, and his words after receiving his accolades captured his passion: “I fell in love with Test cricket because it’s in the name – it tests your character.”

Sune Luus, who has spent much of the season juggling national commitments, made a stunning impact whenever she pulled on the Sky Blues jersey. She earned the Women’s 50-Over Player of the Year as well as the Player’s Player of the Year, a testament to her influence within the dressing room. Her unbeaten 153* at SuperSport Park was her highest score in limited-overs cricket and a highlight of the season. Based in Cape Town, Sune would fly in every Friday and return on Sundays just to represent the Titans on match weekends, showcasing a level of dedication that embodies what it means to be a Titan.

Other standout performances were recognised as well. Medium pacer Dayyaan Galiem earned the Men’s T20 Player of the Year, while Eliz-Mari Marx took home the Women’s T20 Player of the Year after another consistent white-ball campaign.

The night was filled with good vibes, laughter, and heartfelt moments as both rising stars and Titans legends were honoured. Rasika Maharaj was acknowledged as one to watch for the future, while the ever-reliable Roelof van der Merwe, affectionately known as “The Bulldog”, was celebrated for his enduring contribution to the team.

Titans Head Coach Richard das Neves summed up the evening best by saying, “These awards reflect not just performance, but the passion, sacrifice, and spirit of what it means to be a Titan. We are proud of every single player who wore the badge this season.”

The Global Titans theme echoed throughout the night, as the franchise continues to develop players who shine on the domestic stage and represent South Africa with pride.
