Warmer temperatures, lush green grass and blooming flowers are the signs that are looked forward to in Centurion because these signify the start of a new cricket season.
SuperSport Park is braced for what will be a thrilling season of cricket which begins on Friday, 15 September when South Africa host Australia in the 4th ODI in the 5 match Betway ODI series.
Preparation for this encounter began late in April just prior to the tour being announced with a full reseeding of the outfield at SuperSport Park and the planting of cool season Annual Ryegrass. This means that throughout the off-season winter period the field remained in strikingly good condition in preparation for the new season.
“We’re ready to host Australia. The tour was announced quite early so we’ve had enough time to ensure that we’re in tip top shape come 15 September.” Explained SuperSport Park CEO Dr Jacques Faul.
“We pride ourselves on how well we do when it comes it to hosting international matches and with a nation like Australia in town our responsibility is to ensure that we deliver on the world class standards we have set for ourselves.” Said Faul.
With the activities that take place on the field being the core business of SuperSport Park there have some slight cosmetic upgrades around the stadium that will have a notable impact on how players experience the venue. Some of these include newly built outdoor nets, a newly renovated world class gym and revamped home and away changerooms.
While the experience of the players is of high importance, the spectator experience is one that has not been neglected. Patrons at SuperSport Park can enjoy an open Wi-Fi network that they can connect to anywhere within the stadium, a newly built kiddies play area, for the little ones to be entertained, as well as a Raleigh Pump Track.
“It’s important that we always look at the small additions we can make to the stadium which add to the experience for everyone that come into the gates. We want someone that’s been coming to SuperSport Park for years to enjoy the stadium as much as a first timer and that’s where these amenities make a big difference.” Faul said in closing.
