Bakers Orientation Course (Preparatory Phase)

  1. The Orientation Course is parallel to the previous Level One course.
  2. Attendance at the Orientation Course is desired, but not compulsory. This will depend on the playing/coaching experience and the cricket knowledge of the candidate.
  3. The only requirement for the Orientation Course is that candidates must be at least 16 years of age.
  4. The Orientation Course will last for a minimum of SIX hours – normally to consist of THREE modules of TWO hours each. The structure will be determined by the Course Administrator/Coaching Manager.
  5. There is no exam or evaluation. Candidates who go on to register for Level One must know that they will have to write a preliminary test based on the content of the Orientation Course (see below).
  6. Candidates who are present for ALL six hours of the Orientation Course will receive a certificate of attendance.

Revised Bakers Level One (Basic Skills Coach)

  1. Candidates must be a minimum age of 18 years to register.
  2. All candidates must write a preliminary test to prove their general cricket knowledge. This test is based on the content of the Bakers Orientation Course – an 80% pass mark will be required to continue with Level One.
  3. The Revised Level One Course will be of the following duration:
    Introductory Module 1½ hours
    FIVE Modules of THREE hours 15 hours
    Exam and practical evaluation 1½ hours
    Total 18 hours
  4. The structure will be determined by the Course Administrator/Coaching Manager, but must include ALL the prescribed course content.
  5. Successful candidates will be entitled to a certificate within a month of successfully completing the course exam and evaluation.

Revised Bakers Level Two (Intermediate Skills Coach)

  1. Candidates must be a minimum age of 21 years to register.
  2. A candidate must have EITHER:
    a) A Revised Level One certificate (held for at least 12 months)

    or

    b) An existing Level Two coaching certificate (pre-2005)

    or

    c) Played representative cricket (at First Class level)
  3. The Revised Level Two Course will be of the following duration:
    EIGHT Modules of approximately THREE hours each 24 hours
    Exam and practical evaluation 2 ½ hours
    Total 26½ hours
    The structure will be determined by the Course Administrator/Coaching Manager, but must include ALL the prescribed course content.
  4. Successful candidates will receive a pass certificate within a six-month probationary period from the time of successfully completing the course.
