24 AREA CLUB SYSTEM
Northerns Cricket Union at the beginning of the 2004/5 season, reduced the number of clubs from 53 to 24 area clubs within the province, with the aim of sustaining and maintaining a stronger feeder for all structures of the game at amateur level. Within an area club structure the following facets will be represented:

Bakers, Primary and High Schools, Junior and Senior Club, Coaches and Girls / Womens sections.

The province has been divided into 4 zones – North, East, West and South Central with each consisting of 6 area clubs. Top coaches like Grant Morgan (Ex Titans & Eastern Province Wicket), Shafiek Abrahams (Ex South African and Titans off-spin) and top club administrators like Butch Faber (Chairperson at Sinoville & Ex-Free State player) Mac van Vuuren (Chairperson at TUT) and others were appointed to start the process of working together within the area club structures.
