FRANCHISE EXTENDS COACH’S CONTRACT Print E-mail

The Easterns Titans Franchise is pleased to announce that Chris van Noordwyk has agreed to an extension of his contract to remain in his present capacity as the Titans coach through the 2010/2011 season. In his first year as coach, van Noordwyk led the team to the semi finals of the MTN40, Standard Bank Pro20 Series and runners up in the SuperSport Series.

Vincent Sinovich, Chairman of the Franchise commented that: “Chris took over as coach at the beginning of last season. In renewing the coach’s contract, the Franchise is seeking to maintain continuity and build on the development of last season.”

In addition, the Franchise has announced the signings of Henry Davids, Cornelius “CJ” de Villiers, Jacobus Pienaar and Hardus Viljoen to the 2010/2011 squad. Highlighting these signings, Sinovich said: “Davids is a talented batsman who will bring added depth to our lineup. “CJ” de Villiers is a fast bowler who has established himself as one of the young bowling prospects in South Africa.”

“The signing of Pienaar and Viljoen demonstrates the commitment of the Franchise to continue providing opportunity for local players,” added Sinovich.

Chris van Noordwyk, the coach commented: “Jacobus Pienaar, a former pupil of Waterkloof High School is a great prospect who has played for SA Under 19 in the 2003/2004 season. He was also selected for the SA Under19 Colts in the same year. He is a middle order batsman and right-arm seam bowler who started his senior cricket career at TUKS and is currently playing for Easterns.”

“Hardus Viljoen is an opening bowler and lower order batsman who has represented Northerns Schools. He is also a product of Waterkloof High School whose senior cricket career started at Irene Villagers. Hardus is also currently playing for Easterns as part of the Franchise arrangement,” concluded van Noordwyk.
