Standard Bank National Academy out for revenge

The Standard Bank National Cricket Academy candidates are seeking to avenge the losses they suffered against Bangladesh Cricket Academy when they clash in two Standard Bank Cup four-day matches and three One-Dayers. The Bangladeshis who arrived in the country last night, have brought the bulk of the squad that beat their South African counterparts in the first four-day match and drew the second one earlier this year.

The opening four-day match will be at the LC Oval 3 Field at the University of Pretoria, starting on Friday 08 to Monday, 11 August.

The South Africans will be minus seamer, Neil Wagner of Northerns and North West’s off-break bowler, Mafinki Serame who had accompanied the 14-member squad to Bangladesh in April. The right-handed Griquas and Gestetner Diamond Eagles batsman, Reeza Hendricks was the toast of the South Africans batting when he topped the batting charts with 255 runs (131 and 103) at an average of 63.75 in two matches. The other centurian was Rushdi Jappie who forced the draw in the second match with an undefeated 121.

The Bangladeshis have left out their top runscorers, Naeem Islam and Mehrab Hossain but, they have capable players in Imrul Kayes, Shamsur Rahman and allrounder, Mohammed Sohrawardi.
